HOUSE 2 WINS INTER-HOUSE'S (21st and 23rd January, 2016)

The just ended inter-house's athletics competition was won by house 2. It was a keen contest between house 1 and house 2 but house one gave up at the last hour to house 2. The results:
1st House  2     Slogan: Quitters never win
2nd House 1     Slogan: The capricious(second to none)
3rd House 4     Slogan: We lead, others follow
4th House 3     Slogan: The pace setters
The house system is a traditional feature of boarding schools. The school is divided into subunits called 'houses' and each student is allocated to one house at the moment of enrollment. Houses may compete with one another at sports and maybe in other ways, thus providing a focus for group loyalty.
Houses may be named after saints, famous historical old student or notable national heroes or in honor of local celebrities. Other more arbitrary names—animal names or colours,or numbers like what we have adopted(House 1, 2,3,4). Houses are also often referred to by the original name of the building or by the name or initials of the teacher in charge of the house (housemistress or housemaster). Each house will usually also be identified by its own symbol, logo, or colours.
The purpose of the house system in schools and GHAMMISH for this matter is to develop pride in the school, and to foster a house culture, through a wide range of sporting and competition activities.
Running a house system at school, has some benefits like; ensuring students welfare, developing pride in the house, developing a school culture, recognising participation and achievement in extra curricular activities, introducing a varied cultural programmes, encouraging a healthy competitive environment, encouraging multi-level participation, developing leadership skills, developing unity and a common interest between staff, students and non teaching staff.
